Meet Our Principal Doctor Abel Gonzalez, DVM
Becoming a partner in care has been central to Dr. Gonzalez’ nearly decade-long career and it shows. The relationships he’s built with his furry patients and their human family members is centered on trust and preventative medicine—he works tirelessly to be an advocate for pets while meeting their families with empathy.
Dr. Abel Gonzalez graduated from the University of California, Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital in 2009 and has practiced in Northern California, Chicago, Seattle, and now in Vancouver, WA. Dr. G (as he is known by staff and clients alike) immigrated from Mexico at age 5 and grew up in Southern California. He has had a passion for animal since he was young, which evolved into a desire to educate pet parents on the commitment associated with owning a pet.
He grew up with Cocker Spaniels, Dachshunds, Great Danes, and Chihuahuas. He is a current cat parent with partner Billy of littermates Daisy and Zelda. He is happy to provide care and education in partnership with pet parents for Canines, Felines, and Exotics.
When he’s not seeing patients, you can find him enjoying video games, film (especially animated), or the great PNW outdoor lifestyle.

My name is Karina and I am a Licensed Veterinary Technician here at WellHaven. I graduated from Pima Community College in Tucson, AZ 5 years ago and I’m licensed in WA, OR and AZ. Originally, I wanted to pursue a degree in teaching but had a change of heart once I began working as a kennel tech and discovered my strength in building trust with nervous animals.
I have a whole family of pets including 4 dogs: Daisy (boxer/pit bull mix), Attikus (jack russell terrier mix), Faline (chihuahua) and Paco (chihuahua) along with 2 cats: Matia and The Flash. Most of us consider our pets as family and I firmly believe that preventative care is as important for them as it is for us. Annual exams along with routine bloodwork help ensure the health of our pets and can catch early signs of certain diseases. With preventative care, we can expand our time together with our pets!
Bethany, Veterinary Assistant
Beth is a Veterinary assistant that graduated from Pima Medical Institute in 2015 in her home state of Colorado. She got her foot in the door shortly thereafter and spent her first 2 years in a small animal practice. Beth and her boyfriend, Kyler decided to make the move all the way down to the PNW along with their 3 ferrets, Rigby, Odin and Binx Button and their boxer mix, Zaeda. Now that she’s a part of the WellHaven team, Beth is learning more about exotic medicine while continuing to strengthen her own skill set.
In her free time, Beth enjoys spending quality time with her pets, learning new recipes, traveling and camping with her boyfriend!
Megan, Veterinary Assistant
Megan has lived in the Pacific Northwest for the past 32 years. She grew up with a strong passion for flora and fauna. Taking an interest in bugs and creatures at a young age. Megan has been working within the Veterinary field for 8+ years but her life has consistently revolved around loving and caring for animals. The light of her life is Cocoa Jojo; a senior chi-weenie and Mable; a young, fireball of a kitten.
In her spare time, Megan loves gaming, browsing Reddit, tending to her plants and cuddling with her furbabies at home.
Violet, Veterinary Assistant
My name is Violet and I’m a veterinary assistant at WellHaven Pet Health soon to be LVT once I finish school. As a child, I found myself saving wildlife/strays in my hometown of New Jersey and have always had a fascination with animals and their behavior. I’ve spent many years working with horses and sporting dogs, which has only made that fascination flourish.
I share my home with my 3 dogs Izzy, Jack and Koda and my wonderful weasel (ferret) named Ferris Bueller. You can typically find all 5 of us (yes, the ferret too) exploring the mountains of the PNW! Preventative care is incredibly important to me and I firmly believe keeping up on routine care for your pets makes for a happy, healthy life!
Hi, I’m Cynthia and I’m a receptionist at the Downtown Vancouver WellHaven. Coming to the doctor can be stressful to our pets and our families. My goal at WellHaven is to build a trusting relationship with each of our pet families. I hope to alleviate that stress by welcoming you into our Fear Free hospital with warmth and understanding. I first stepped into the field of vet care by answering a job ad in 1996. It read, “Do you love pets?” I said “Yes!” and the rest is history.
On my off time, I enjoy writing, listening to music and running. My Redbone -Treeing Walker Coonhound adopted me many years ago. He’s now 11 years old and is my bestest friend in the world. Thank you for getting to know me! Feel free to stop by our WellHaven to say hi. I look forward to getting to know all about your best friend!

He is skilled in many different areas of veterinary medicine to include exotic and wild animal care, emergency/critical care, and specialty medicine. Ryan’s passion has always been helping animals and people in any way he can.
